A World Without Smart Phones
We would like to make a bet. We bet that right now, you are reading this on some sort of mobile device. iPhone? Android tablet? Maybe even a Kindle? These days, we can’t fathom leaving home without these devices. Often times, our phones contain our entire lives: photos, calendars, Facebook, our contacts and phone numbers…who remembers those anymore!? Losing our phone can be catastrophic.
Let’s imagine that we don’t have our smart devices anymore (heaven forbid). Instead of a phone, we just had to carry around everything we needed for each day. We compiled a list of all the things that you would need to put in some sort of magic backpack, just to make it through the day:
• Calculator
• Flashlight
• Phone Book
• Day Planner
• Paper and pen
• Television
• VCR
• Books
• Arcade games
• Almanac
• Alarm Clock
• Paper Map and Compass
• Dictionary and Encyclopedia Set
• Tape Recorder
• Newspaper
• Walkman
Let’s all just take a moment and be thankful for our smart devices. Tell us in a comment, in elaborate detail, how you would react to losing your smart phone or tablet. What other items would you have to carry around to get you through your day?
