Not Your Average Internship

Ilfusion has molded me into a social media strategist, blogger, researcher, and current trends enthusiast. Here’s the story.

I wasn’t sure what to expect of my first internship with an ad agency, but knew I needed one before I graduated college. I knew I wanted an internship with a company that treated its employees well, had a modern atmosphere, and could offer experience and real work to do. I also knew I wanted an agency that didn’t get caught up on wasting a lot of time but could have fun while getting the job done. Ilfusion was all of these and more.

This internship has not only improved my abilities in social media, but I also have gained insight on how an agency runs, how it comes together, and how each area works together to make customers happy and produce the best outcomes. Ilfusion is an agency that cares not only about their clients but also about their employees. After opening their doors to me and welcoming me for a total of only four months, I can leave now with great amount of knowledge that I can use for my future careers. I know Ilfusion is just the beginning of my future career path.

I first began my internship search by looking for agencies in the downtown Fort Worth area because of its rich culture and because the downtown area is a fast-growing market. I ran across Ilfusion, located in the West 7th district. I began by looking at the website, and I soon realized that this place was really cool and a place where employees matter. As I was reviewing their bio page, I knew this was somewhere I had to apply. Luckily, I got the internship!

I was the only intern representing UTA, and I think I not only exceeded Ilfusion’s expectations in my internship, but I believe I also helped to continue UTA’s great name and reputation. The staff are all about making sure you are learning something and are able to leave with knowledge in your field of the internship. I was glad Ilfusion Creative wasn’t like some of my friends’ and classmates’ internships, where they spent their time making copies or grabbing coffee for the office. I had heard all these horror internship stories of classmates bored and having no work to do, and then there were the great stories of classmates and their internships. I knew I wanted an internship that provided a great story that I could tell others and that would help build my experience for my future career.

I was pleased that Ilfusion is actually an agency where they throw you in the first day with learning how to use social media and the importance of interactions. They include you in all of their meetings so you can gain insight of the company. It’s great because at their monthly report meetings, you can see the work you’ve done and how it has improved their client companies’ ratings and website traffic.

The staff at Ilfusion are very welcoming and do whatever they can to help you. This isn’t something you normally see at just any job, much less an internship. Because of Ilfusion, I feel that I can put social media on my resume and be confident in the work I can provide for any company.
