Agency Life
This blog post is bittersweet for me, as it is my last post here at Ilfusion. The last year and a half has been a whirlwind of ups and downs, and a ton of great experiences. If you’ve ever worked in an agency setting, you know how crazy – and rewarding – it can be. Life as a Social Media Strategist has not always been rose petals and rainbows; but it has been a great learning experience and one I am incredibly thankful for.
First, let’s get this one thing out of the way: NO, I do not just play on Facebook all day. NO, I don’t just write a couple Tweets and have nothing to do. Being a Social Media Strategist is a full time job; especially when you have up to 10 clients at a time. From writing all original content to fit multiple industries, to responding to customers, to creating full campaigns, this job will keep you pretty busy and requires a great deal of creativity and perseverance. Steps off soapbox
Anyway, when I started here, fresh off the college boat (Sic’em Bears!), I really didn’t know what I was getting into with an agency. I knew it was going to be tough but I was ready to start my career. Thus began one of the toughest and most rewarding whirlwind of a year-and-a-half of my life. I have learned so much about myself, what I want to do with my career, and of course, how to run a great social media strategy.
Working for an agency is an experience I would never trade. It has been a great learning experience to deal with the intense, the unexpected, and the anxiety-ridden moments and to still come out on top. I have also been able to glean information on how other aspects of the business work, like ad buying and what makes great graphic design. As I transition to a more corporate setting, I know I will use the skills and information I have learned here at Ilfusion.
I am sad to leave this great group of friends and coworkers, but I am excited for the next step. I will always remember this first job out of school as one filled with great learning experiences and great friendships.
