When I was applying for internships the summer before my junior year, I could not help but feel like Alice falling down the rabbit hole: I imagined myself asking the Cheshire Cat: “Would you tell me, please, which way I ought to go?” There were so many different companies that would offer different types of internship experiences.
Unlike Alice, I realized I did know exactly where I wanted to go: I wanted an internship that would give me real-world experience with public relations and social media. I wanted to learn how the agency-client relationship was made, and how to make that relationship grow.
When I went to Ilfusion’s website, the company looked like everything I wanted and more: a creative agency with an amazing list of clients and an impressive portfolio. Ilfusion’s company culture is also very unique. Everyone at this company has a great sense of humor paired with an amazing work ethic. Once I interviewed with this company, I knew I had found my wonderland!
My internship with Ilfusion this semester has given me valuable experience that I could not have received at any other company. I have learned how to turn social media into a business practice and how to strategically promote companies and brands through platforms like Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest, and LinkedIn. I also learned what it takes to build an effective creative team. Ilfusion is a group of designers, social media strategists and account managers who work together to expand a company’s brand and make it more personal and competitive in the market place.
My internship at Ilfusion has drastically improved my education and portfolio. Luckily, I don’t feel lost like Alice anymore: I can now pursue the wonderland of the public relations field with confidence thanks to my amazing internship experience at Ilfusion!
