Hillary’s Internship Experience
Last April, I was on the search for an internship for the summer between my junior and senior years of college. I was looking through lots of options with big firms and companies all over the metroplex. Honestly, I had no idea what I wanted in an internship, I just needed some more experience. That being said, when I interviewed at Ilfusion Creative, I knew that’s where I wanted to be. As soon as I heard I had received the public relations/social media internship at Ilfusion I was overjoyed!
When I first started at Ilfusion, I was expecting to be trained, then sit around doing menial tasks as I tried my best not to screw up anything important. To my surprise, I was able to start working on projects immediately. By the second week, I was accustomed to writing blogs and social media posts. I could not have asked for a better, more hands-on experience. I’ve heard about so many horrible internship experiences from friends about sitting around and getting coffee. I felt very blessed with the experience I was able to receive by helping to do actual work for real clients! From the very beginning, I was welcomed by everyone in the office. I had a great time working with the team, and they were all so wonderful for teaching me so much while managing all of their own work.
I was having such a great time that by the end of the summer, I didn’t want to leave! So I signed on for another semester. The second half of my experience has been even better than the summer. I was able to dive right in and already knew most of the clients I was helping to create content for. I was able to do much more during the week because I was better and more efficient at the tasks I learned over the previous semester. This experience has been different than any internship I’ve heard of, because I was given more freedom and was trusted with more tasks, then reviewed throughout.
I have loved all of my time here. Being able to stay for another semester was incredible, and I cannot imagine any internship where I would have received more experience. I have loved being able to be a part of this team and watch the company change and grow through the year. Each of the people I’ve had the pleasure of working with are amazing, and I thank them for everything they have done for me.
