Never Eat Alone
How do you meet new people? Where do you go? What do you do? This is a question that often comes up in business conversation when someone is new at networking.
I have picked up a pretty cool book which is a good read and hard to put down. Keith Ferrazzi’s “Never Eat Alone” is a book about networking. It has a ton of great ideas on how to better network and how to develop new contacts. Mr. Ferrazzi’s attitude is that if you are not having a meal with someone else, you are missing out on prime networking opportunity. He feels that a good networker should always be inviting someone to lunch, dinner or breakfast and getting to know them better.
His message is for others to really develop relationships with a reasonable amount of business people rather than just casting their net too wide and having many acquaintances whom they don’t really know that well. In other words, having a large network of people you barely know is not as important as having a smaller network of people you actually spend time with and go out to eat with.
There are a ton of other lessons to be learned in this very informative book. I suggest you order one off Amazon used for about $5 or new for a little bit more. Totally worth it.
