Upgrade your $#!%
You’re the proud owner of a company. You just spent a little time and a lot more money getting a new website for your business. You’re about to show off your cool new page and all of its features to a room full of people (co-workers, executives, clients, etc…). You’re as anxious as a giddy school-girl who’s about to see a Justin Beiber concert. The moment of truth comes. You take a deep breath as you type in your new website’s URL and hit “Enter.” The page redirects, brings up your website and…has NOT loaded properly…not so impressive.
So what happened? The not-so-obvious culprit could be none other than… your Internet browser. Yes, this little-known suspect can put a big glitch in the presentation of your company and its website. If you’re still using browsers like Netscape Navigator or Internet Explorer 6 or 7, chances are, the web pages you’re viewing aren’t displaying properly. With Firefox, Safari, Chrome, and even IE9 (if you have to use it) there’s absolutely no reason to be using such legacy browsers.
While we’re on the subject of upgrading your $#!%, it’s also a good idea to keep your computer system up to date. Even if you’re using the right browser, it won’t get you far if you’re operating it on ancient hardware. In addition to your system moving slower than the speed that the Earth turns, you’re probably not receiving the best screen resolution with an out-dated graphic card. For example, 0.6% of all web users today are using a screen with 800×600 resolution (52% were using the same back in the year 2002). Today, most people are using 1024×768 or (hopefully) greater.
Technology is rapidly increasing and the effect it has is the constant production of upgrades. So if you want to look the best, see the best and be the best, stay updated and upgraded!
